Carol joined the Cross Pointe Staff team in April 2003 as our Preschool Ministry Director. "I loved having the opportunity to impact young hearts toward God. It's exciting to see a young child realize God is real and He loves them with all His heart. It's even more exciting to see a young child love God with all their heart! Isn't that what God wants all of us to do... have a child-like faith?"
In 2011, Carol transitioned to the role of Director of Connections, overseeing all of our "first touch" ministries including our lobby and campus volunteers, our various ministry volunteer efforts, and our Starting Pointe membership information classes.
Carol's journey in Christ started when driving home from Sunday night church eating Dairy Queen ice cream cones (summertime after church tradition). "I started asking my mom tons of questions about God and spiritual things. We were very close to our Pastor's home so we stopped in to see him. That night I prayed and asked Jesus in to my heart and to save me from my sin. I was 8 years old. Within a few weeks I was baptized," she shares.
Carol grew up in a Christian home, went to church, and went to a Christian high school. It was all she knew. "Being saved at an early age meant I took my salvation for granted. It was only by God's grace I didn't fall into a life of godlessness," she relates.
"As I grew older I began to hear stories about people who were saved from a terrible past, a life of sin, and how God changed their lives dramatically. It caused me to wonder and question if I was really saved because I didn't have that huge 'aha' moment of transformation in my life. It seemed as if I had been saved forever. For years I struggled with whether or not I was really saved because I didn't have the passion and motivation that I saw in others."
It was in Bible college that everything turned around for Carol. "God showed me how he had saved me from the sin that was all around me, whether it was my alcoholic father who abandoned my family when I was two or the bondage of abuse that trapped other members of my family. God had spared me from those sins and set my feet on a solid rock--His foundation. I thank God for sparing me as a young child and allowing me the opportunity to serve Him in full-time ministry."
Carol and her husband, Ron, have been married for 28 years. They have 2 boys: Joshua (21) and Caleb (13).
