"For You have been a defense for the helpless, A defense for the needy in his distress, A refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat; For the breath of the ruthless is like a rain storm against a wall."

Isaiah 25:4

Cross Pointe leaders are tracking Hurricane Florence and are monitoring the weather situation of our neighbors in the Carolinas. We stand ready to assist with any relief efforts as needed. You can find details of Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief plans and Southern Baptist Disaster Relief plans, as they become available, at the websites below. At the moment there are no immediate "call ups" posted:

The Church in Prayer
The best way for you as an individual to respond to Hurricane Florence right now is through prayer:

  • Pray for God to show mercy, especially to people who live on the coast, those in the hospitals, widows, and under-resourced communities.
  • Pray for first responders (police, fire, Coast Guard, National Guard) who are staying to protect the people and property and quickly initiate relief efforts
  • Pray for the Disaster Relief Efforts organized by the North American Mission Board and state conventions, including Georgia Baptist Convention Disaster Relief.

Can I Go and Help?
If and when there is a need to go, only those who have received appropriate disaster relief training are able to be among the "first wave" of those allowed in to help hurricane victims. The Southern Baptist relief sites linked above have details about teams and training.
